Hummus has always been my go to appetizer for parties. It is the easiest thing to make, pretty much throw everything in a food processor and…. BOOM! It’s also a great thing to bring to pot lucks, because there isn’t anyone that DOESN’T like hummus…. right?
When it comes to entertaining my South East Asian family, I always have to find a way to spice things up. Because to them, if there’s no spicy peppers involved, your food is missing something :/ Last weekend, I made hummus for the family, which I thought was out of this world, and was so excited for mom to taste it. She gives it one taste and goes “it’s good but it needs something else.” So I added some jalapeño and….. BAM! She couldn’t stop eating it. 🙂
Ingredients:
- 1 15 oz Can chickpeas, drained
- 2 Tbsp Cilantro, roughly chopped
- 2 Cloves of garlic, peeled
- 1 Tbsp Jalapeno, roughly chopped (about 1/2 a jalapeno)
- 2 Tbsp Fresh lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp Fresh lime juice
- Pinch of Salt and Pepper
- 1 Tbsp tahini
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Olive oil (or more if needed)
Instructions:
- Place all ingredients up to the olive oil in a food processor and blend until smooth.
- With the machine running, stream in the Olive oil and continue processing until super creamy and smooth.
- Serve with warm pita bread or pita chips….. or just about anything else 🙂
